Honoring the 100th Anniversary of our VFW, Spicer-Grimsley Post 3257, the oldest Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Missouri.
The day starts off the Christmas Expo in the Spring Park Community Building. Do some early Christmas shopping from our local vendors. The Expo will be open from 10am-5pm (closed during the parade).
At 3pm, the Star Spangled Christmas Parade begins. Line up for parade entries is at 2pm. The parade route will form at Fields Street and Main and travel North on Main street to East Broadway. Floats may disband in the 200 block of East Broadway. Parade watchers are encouraged to gather downtown near Spring Park, as candy will be distributed in between Hightower Street and Broadway Street and the announcers will be in that area as well. ENTRY DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8 AT NOON.
The day will end with the Christmas Lighting Celebration in Spring Park. Following the conclusion of the parade, join us near the Bandstand for awards presentations to the bands and float winners. During this portion of the evening, the EHS/EMS bands and choirs will perform, the El Dorado Christian School will present a reading of Jesus’ birth, the VFW representatives will “flip the switch” to turn on the city Christmas lights, GFWC Generation III will present Miss Merry Christmas, Little Mr. and Miss Santa and candidates. Stay around and enjoy free hotdogs provided by Woods Supermarket and await the arrival of SANTA CLAUSE, where you can visit him and take pictures with him in his house!
